Q: I heard that Tom T. Hall was given some kind of music award recently. Do you have any details?
A: Tom T. Hall was recently named a "BMI Icon" by Broadcast Music Inc. The "Icon" status is given to people who have had "a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers." Other "BMI Icons" include Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn and Bill Anderson.

TODAY IN 1968: Tom T. Hall had his 4th charted song. "Ballad Of Forty Dollars" came on the country music charts November 16th, 1968 and peaked at number 4. The Mercury Records single was on the charts for 18 weeks.
